Sony surpasses the competition

By the end of February, after four months of availability on the market, Sony has sold 915,000 units of its PlayStation VR headset.  In an interview with The New York Times, Andrew House, Sony Entertainment CEO admitted that sales are on track to surpass the company’s own expectations of selling 1 million units in six months.

PS VR more popular than expected

In comparison, SuperData research shows that Oculus has sold 243,000 of its Rift headsets up till now, and that the HTC Vive has sold 420,000 units.

Google Cardboard hits 10 million Cardboard VR headsets

Since the first appearance in 2014, Google shipped 10 million of its Cardboard. Google Play hit 160 million downloads of Cardboard apps and still rising. What is more, 30 Cardboard titles have reached over a million downloads apiece. As stated by Google, official data includes mobile VR viewers that aren’t official Cardboard headsets, but could still be used with Cardboard apps.
