The XR project process

Can XR technologies benefit your company? How? What is the business case? How do we get started?

Questions can be many, and it is very rare that customers knock on our door with a finalized idea ready to be developed and implemented. Most of them engage in a startup process with our experienced strategic advisors to define and tailor a solution meeting a specific business challenge.

Below is a general overview of the different stages you go through when you start a successful XR project with us.

All customers are unique, so you do not necessarily go through all the steps in phase one. Some customers know exactly what they want and jump directly to phase two. Some come here for an inspiration workshop first to be updated on the latest technological development, before a specific user case can be discussed.

Phase 1

Initial meeting and inspiration

Get up to date with the latest XR trends, hear about use cases and business cases and try for yourself.

You will be inspired about where and how XR can make a difference for your business.

You will also learn about the values that drive Virsabi to see if we are the right fit.

This can be an informal meeting, it can be an inspirational workshop for your team, and it can be a network event where we inspire people across different companies and organizations.

Especially when we do inspiration events for groups, we often add a mini-ideation process at the end to make sure that everyone leaves our clubhouse with a handful of good ideas for how XR can add value to their business.

Ideation

The ideation session is a structured process where we explore ideas and opportunities for your business and dive deeper into your most promising ideas.

These sessions usually involve a diverse group of people from your organization, and some of our customers have even involved external stakeholders.

We use different brainstorming techniques with individual and group exercises to come up with multiple ideas and qualify the best.

An ideation session takes between half and day and two full workdays. At the end, we will agree upon which idea(s) to pursue.

Solution proposal and presentation

Now, we define the steps needed to turn your idea into an XR experience.

We develop the storyline, sketch the visuals, define interactions and describe the desired outcome as well as the steps to get there.

For the best result, we expect you to participate in this process.

The duration of this phase depends on the complexity of your project. At the end of the process, you will get a detailed solution proposal that we will present to you and your team.

Based on this solution proposal, you will get a quote for developing the XR experience.

The solution proposal is yours, and you may even use it to get quotes from other developers.

Phase 2

Design and production

Based on the solution proposal, we start to develop the project.

We work in sprints, and you will be involved at the end of each sprint to make sure that the development is aligned with your expectations. This way, there will be no unfortunate surprises at the end, and – if the budget allows – it will be possible to bring new ideas or features to the table, as seeing your project evolve often sparks new creative ideas.

The duration of this phase depends on the complexity of the project, and how many features we can use from our Virsabi Core library. But this is the lengthy phase of the project, and we are talking months.

Testing

Even though tests are performed during the development, nothing is released without severe user tests.

We do several user tests with segments that demographically match the end users. Feedback is documented and brought back to the developers.

At this point, our code will work. So, we particularly look into how intuitive the users find the experience and if they use the experience as intended.

Final approval

You try and test the final experience. When you nod and smile, we drink champagne.

Implementation

Whether you need the experience to run on one headset or 100, we are with you all the way.

We can help you with device management, so you can monitor and control headsets, and we have systems in place to help you with procurement of headsets and can assist you with additional features like flight cases and user guides.

With a service level agreement, you can rest assured that we are no more than a phone call away if any technical challenges arise in the future.
